William Tsai

I am a second-year undergraduate at Columbia University majoring in Biology. I am continuing to explore my interest through all my intern experiences in academic research labs and industrial research and development labs. Currently, at the Steckelberg lab, I am assisting Ronan in creating a mutant Upf1 (the key regulator of the Nonsense mRNA Mediated Decay (NMD) pathway) construct and stable cell line with these mutants and then to study the effect of mutants’ regulation to the NMD (Nonsense mRNA mediated Decay) pathway for Zika Virus mRNA transcripts. Outside of class, I volunteer at Terence Cardinal Cooke Healthcare Center for patients with Huntingtons' disease. In my free time, I like to work out in the gym, hang out with friends, and watch hockey and soccer.
