Sophie Korn
I studied biology in Germany and earned my PhD from Goethe University Frankfurt. In the lab of Karl-Dieter Entian, I worked on bacterial defense mechanisms and investigated biotechnological approaches to fight multidrug-resistant organisms with alternative antibiotics. As a postdoc, I joined the lab of Andreas Schlundt studying the molecular determinants for specific human and viral protein-RNA interactions that regulate essential cellular processes. I am passionate about the dynamics of biological processes and what they can reveal. For that purpose, I specialised in solution methods, such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). In the Steckelberg lab I will use my experience to gain functional insights into the highly dynamic xrRNAs and how they can be manipulated.
Outside of the lab, I love to spend time with my family and explore the neighbourhood with my two kids.
