Ronan Le Sénéchal

I studied biology in France and obtained my PhD at the University of Western Brittany in Brest. During my PhD, I studied the role of G-quadruplexes on the alternative splicing of an anti-apoptotic gene. I also had the opportunity to participate in other projects involving the RNA biology of the Epstein-Barr virus.

I'm very interested in the biology of viruses and how they evade their host immune system. I'm particularly curious about the relationship between viruses and how RNA secondary structures influence and shape virus infection. To answer these questions, I use a variety of methods, such as in cellulo assay or in vitro assays, to understand the viral strategy to escape its host.
Outside the lab, I like bouldering, playing chess and trying out new extreme sports.
