Megan Korn
I’m a PhD student in the Integrated CMBS program at CUIMC, and I’m excited to be rotating in the Steckelberg lab. During my undergraduate career, I studied chemistry and mathematics, and performed synthetic organic chemistry research in Jennifer Heemstra’s group at Emory University. My research passions led me to pivot towards more biology-focused research, and after undergrad I joined Robert Banh’s group at NYU Langone as a research technician where my work focused on deciphering the role of mRNA mistranslation in cancer. During my PhD, I aim to study the regulation of RNA with hopes of elucidating novel regulatory mechanisms. I’m particularly interested in how RNA viruses respond to host cell defenses, like NMD. Outside of lab, I like to explore New York City's beautiful parks, run through said parks, and go birdwatching.
